The name “IL VIGNO” simply means “the vineyard’ or “the vine”. But there is nothing simple or ordinary about this vineyard. While Tuscany is home to many world renowned vineyards, IL VIGNO is located in a region in Tuscany known for its ‘marrone’ or sweet chestnut, moss green forests, rare truffles and honey producing orchards.
You will find no other vineyards nearby.
IL VIGNO is an oddity. An improbability. An unexpected find.
By change or design, Mother Nature carved out a niche for this odd little vineyard. Blessed with just the right ‘terroir’ — climate, soil, terrain, and good fortune — IL VIGNO thrived and brought unimagined abundance and prosperity to the community.
Today, you can still find traces and the terraces of the old IL VIGNO. While the vineyard is no more, the name remains and the story continues.
IL VIGNO is still an improbable oddity, an unexpected joy.
